Romney Or Obama, These Are Your Choices!!!!!!!!
Well unless you have been living under a rock, then you know it’s time again to vote for the next president. We have 2 choices, we can keep the one we have or elect a new president.
Now anyone who knows me will know who I will vote for, but I’m not going to tell you who to vote for.
But what I will ask you to do, is find out about both candidates. Form your own opinions about either one. Research on their past records, find out about their personal beliefs. How they live their lives says alot about a person.
Whether you think it or not, who they associate with tells alot about a persons character. Find out how they spend their time with family and friends.
It shouldn’t matter what their financial status. It shouldn’t matter how big their house is or how many they have. Personally being wealthy to me is a plus.
But as I said before that you need to research for yourself and not depend on tv commercials or ads in your local paper.
Most commercials will tell you what you want to hear, regardless if it’s true or not. That’s why I tell you to look at their records, whether it’s in the private sector or in a government capacity.
This is probably one of the most important elections I have been apart of in my life time. I know I said that I wouldn’t tell you who to vote for and I’m not going to.
But I will ask you to think about the last four years and look at everything that has happened in the USA and overseas. Because whether you agree or not, what is going on in other countries will affect us in time.
This President has had 4 years to change our country for the better. You might disagree with me, but I feel the damage this administration has done to our country has to stop now, or we won’t survive another 4 years.
Ok, so you guessed it, I will be voting for Romney. But I did my research and it didn’t come from Media Matters or MSNBC.
And Romney is right the 47% who don’t pay taxes won’t vote for him, they want to keep getting their check. This doesn’t include people on social security or disability, but the ones who don’t want to work, but want the government to take care of them.
Government assistance is not suppose to last a life time, it’s for when you have hard times. When you need extra help to get over a financial hardship that is beyond your control.
Ok, I’m getting off my soap box now. But, please before you vote, research for yourself and find out what they are really about.
Fat Girl Living In A Skinny Girl World
I’m a fat girl dreaming of living in the skinny girl world again. Oh yea, been there once upon a time. Ok, many times.
You know the dream, the one where you are able to fit into those size 6 jeans that have been hanging in the closet so long that they have gone in and out of style several times.
Yea, that dream. Everyday I wake up and say to myself, this is the day that I will lose the many pounds of extra fat that my 5 ft. 4 inch body carries every day.
And as usual, everyday I do nothing about it as I eat a burger and fries for lunch and dream the dream.
Every where we look we see magazines and commercials showing pictures of happy skinny people and wished we could be like them. As I order a large sweet tea with my lunch.
Of course we love the commercials about the next greatest diet pill or the sweat free exercise machine. As we eat the whole rack of BBQ ribs and baked beans from our favorite take out place.
I remember when I had lost 59 pounds several years ago, yes I said 59 pounds. My dad asked me at the time if I was sick because I had lost so much weight. I told him no, and I thought I looked fine until I saw pictures of myself later. I did look sick.
In all the years of being married, my husband ( the love of my life) has only made one comment about my weight. He said I had lost too much weight. Of course I have since gained back the 59 pounds plus 10 more. Ugh!!!!
This past summer my 8 year old granddaughter asked me if the swimsuit she had on made her look fat. WHAT? When did it happen that a child worried about if she looked fat, her biggest worry should have been if it was going to be a sunny day to play in the pool all day.
Our children should have no worries in life, they will have plenty of those when they grow up. Their only worry should be is what will I do today for fun.
We spend thousands of dollars chasing that skinny dream. We go on every possible diet we can find. We buy all the latest and greatest exercise equipment that ends up in the corner piled high with clean laundry.
For what, the chance to be skinny again? Why? Because it’s what’s drilled into our heads from the moment we are old enough to understand. But again, I ask why?
Is it the feeling of being hungry and the love of the sweat from the 2 hour workout every day? Is it?
Have you seen pictures lately of people who are known for their muscles and slim bodies? The Terminator is not looking so good anymore. So why do we want the skinny dream?
I’m not so sure I want it anymore. I like laying on the couch watching tv instead of sweating for 2 hours. Sure I need to get healthy, but does that mean that I have to give up the things I love to eat or do without them completely. No it doesn’t.
So until I figure out how I want to get healthy and happy at the same time, I will try to dream a different kind of dream. One that doesn’t involve a treadmill or a diet pill.
Packing For Vacation
Well as I said in my last post, I am getting ready to go on my annual yard sale trip with my Mom. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, stop now and read last post.
Anyway, back to the packing. I keep forgetting every year how much I pack for this 5 day trip. You would think I was leaving civilization where I had no access to a grocery store. But when you start to yard sale, you don’t want stop digging through that box of junk in the back of someone’s garage to find a Wal Mart.
Oh the horrors of thinking that you might miss out on finding that first edition of Tom Sawyer because you had to find a store to get a coke and snickers bar.
I start making my list weeks in advance of the yard sale. Mainly because if I don’t, I will forget most of what I plan to take. My Mom will call me sometimes to add something to the list.
This year is the first year we are driving a truck, so excited. The possibilities of the treasures (aka) junk we could buy.
By the time this thing is over with, we will look like the Clampetts with all the treasures (aka) junk we will have found.
The first thing on my list is to find a hotel room. Now you may not think that finding a hotel is not that hard, but you have to very carefully plan out your route.
First of all, everyone starts making reservations months in advance. And of course all the hotels that I have checked on are already full.
I guess we could go old school and throw up a tent and bring out the Coleman lantern and roast hot dogs over a camp fire. You know that sounds really cool if it wasn’t 900 degrees outside.
Now I need to start gathering up all the things on my list to take. Looks like I might need to get my coupon binders out, yes I have more than one coupon binder.
Well I guess I better get started, I only have 7 days 13 hours 55 minutes and 40 seconds.
World’s Longest Yard Sale!!!!!!!
Well it’s that time of the year for the World’s Longest Yard Sale. And everyone who know’s me, know that I love going on it.
My Mom and I have been talking about it for months. My oldest nephew Wyatt is going with us again this year.
The kids have Birthdays for presents, I have this yard sale. I look forward to it all year long. This is my vacation.
I’m sure some of you think that I am crazy to plan my vacation around going on a yard sale that goes for hundreds of miles. But don’t knock it until you try it.
It is 690 miles of glorious treasures. Ok, I know what you are thinking. It’s a bunch of junk instead of treasure. But you know what they say, one man’s junk is another man’s treasure.
It’s called The Highway 127 Corridor Sale. It always begins on the first Thursday in August and continues through the following Sunday of that week.
The sale route is all along US Highway 127 from Hudson, MI to Lookout Mt. Parkway, which leads to Gadsden, Alabama.
The website for it is. www.127sale.com
We usually drive up to almost the Tennessee-Kentucky state line and start working our way south.
I always make my hotel reservations months in advance, but you don’t have to just be prepared to stop at a lot of hotels until you find a vacancy. They are not suppose to price gouge, but if you don’t make reservations you could find your self paying ALOT more for a room.
The only bad thing about already having a place to stay is that when the day is over that you might find yourself still 100 miles from your room. But it’s a chance I’m willing to take to be sure I have a nice room at a decent price.
I guess my favorite thing about this trip is that I get to spend some special time with my Mom. And we get to share something that we both LOVE alot. Did I mention that we really love yard sales?
This is one of the favorite things that southerns love to do. Dig through someone else’s junk to find that priceless treasure that they didn’t know they had. Maybe not priceless, but really cool to me.
And if it makes me and my Mom happy, that’s all that matters. Right?
Maybe when you are watching a segment on HGTV about the yard sale, you see some goofy lady waving at the camera. It might be me.
What Do You Say?????
What do you say? I found my self wondering that same exact question a few days ago when I found out that my daughters precious friend lost her husband suddenly.
What do you say to someone who finds out that the person she thought she would spend the rest of her life with has died suddenly.
What words can you say that would ease some of the crushing grief that they are feeling at that moment. Of course you can say what everyone else will say, that they are sorry for her loss or that he is in heaven.
But you think that there is something that you can say to make your friends pain bearable. But in reality, there is nothing you can say to do that.
What you can do is be their friend. Let them know that you love them and that you are there for them if they need a shoulder to cry on or just someone to listen to them talk about the many emotions they are feeling.
Even though they might not believe it, but their pain will lessen and their heart will start to heal.
This Is My Southern Life
Since this will be my first post, I wanted to tell you about some of the things that you can expect to read on My Southern World.
You will definitely read about the crazy things that seem to happen on a daily basis in my life. I will write about my love for couponing, yes I hope to be an extreme couponer someday. Not the level you see on tv, but pretty close.
And sometimes I will rant about my politicals views on politics. I may not be very knowledgeable about all politics, but I know what I want from the government and it’s not them telling me how to live and trying to give me a chec that I didn’t work for. That’s all I need to say about that now, or this could turn into a novel of how I disagree with our current president.
Of course I will talk about my faith and love for God. I love telling about when I got saved and about being baptized on the beach. Awesome glorious day.
Hopefully, from time to time there will be others besides myself who will write a post about their southern lives.
So just sit back, get you a glass of sweet tea and let’s talk about the south and how much we miss the old days. When you respected your elders, worked hard for your money and went to Thank God every Sunday for the many blessings in your Southern Life.
